The Grandmother of My Dreams (00000195)
2.6/5 (113 Votes)
My grandmother used to watch over my brother and I when my parents were both at work. She was really the grandmother of my dreams. She always had health problems to fight, but mentally she was in top-shape. She was very interested in world events, understood about those less fortunate, always did the crossword puzzles, had a good sense of justice, and stood up for young people. She was very strict, but also very compassionate. Over the years, I became more like her, and that just strengthened our relationship. Three years ago, we started to notice that she was rapidly developing dementia. In-home care was no longer sufficient to keep her house in order, and all of her kids worked or lived to far away, so she had to go to a nursing home. She was initially reluctant but she now feels comfortable there. Since then, I have only gone to visit two times and I don't want to go any more. Not because I'm too lazy or because she means nothing to me. It hurts my soul when I see what she's become. She doesn't recognize her own relatives anymore and understands less than a 5-year old child. The last two times I was there, I burst into tears when I saw this lump of humanity. I did the best I could to hide it from her so she would not get upset. I also felt like she liked me and enjoyed the visit. My mother, who always visits told me that it was fine and wasn't a problem, but it still bothers me. I keep thinking about my grandmother and then I get sad. She can't do anything about it, but the visits really hurt me. I'm really out of sorts afterwards. But on the other hand, I feel like I'm letting her down. And what if she dies and I hardly visited her.

The Pikachu Stuffed Animal (00000162)
2.8/5 (181 Votes)
I (m/30) was once visiting some friends to delete the well-known "ukash virus" from their computer. This virus disables the computer and only releases it after you pay a fee. As I was there cleaning the virus from the Windows Registry, their young daughter (7) came into the room. She had to show me something on TV. So I went with her for a minute. Pokémon was currently on. She told me that she thought Pikachu was totally cute and wanted to have it as a pet and she asked me if I knew where you could buy a Pikachu. I explained to her that Pikachu stuffed animals were sold in toy stores and that she could ask her parents if they would buy her one. She insisted, however, that she wanted a "real Pikachu." I explained to her that Pikachu only existed on TV and couldn't jump out of it. I thought nothing of it and went back to working on the computer. After two hours, I finally completely eliminated the virus from the computer and could proudly present the result. My friends were relieved that they could use the computer normally again. At that moment we heard strange noises coming from the living room. It got louder and louder and suddenly there was a crash. We went to see what had happened. The daughter had hit the LCD screen with a hammer because she wanted a "real Pikachu" from TV. She thought it was trapped in the TV and wanted to free it. I'll never forget the parents' horrified look and I was amazed by how much strength a 7 year old girl can have. I definitely learned from this experience and in the future, I'll explain to little kids exactly how a TV works. Luckily no one was hurt and they also bought a new TV.

Vandalism in the family (00000151)
2.7/5 (173 Votes)
My brother and I don't get along. Like at all. One day he tried to hack into my phone, (a Samsung Galaxy SII) which, after too many passcode attempts, gives you the option to get into the phone with your google account. Thing is, I forgot my password. I tried changing the password, signing in with my youtube account. And I didn't want to factory reset it because I had really important things on it. Anyway, I tried EVERYTHING. Still couldn't get into it. I was so mad. And since he was supposed to be getting paid soon, I told him he was gonna buy me a new phone. He refused to do that, so one day while he was out I took his $800 dollar laptop, broke it in half, shattered the screen, broke off all the keys, broke the circuit boards and smashed what was left into little pieces. Then I put it all in a plastic bag and threw it in the woods down the street. I took a nap after that, and around 6:00pm he woke me up yelling, "WHERE'S MY LAPTOP!?" I looked at him with a confused face. "Isn't it in your room?" I asked sleepily. He yelled back NO. "Well I don't know where it is, then. I've been asleep the whole time you were gone." He actually believed me. Haha, He's such a dumb ass.

Keying the Car (00000147)
2.6/5 (218 Votes)
I drove to the store with my mother so she could pay her electric bill. While we were sitting in the car, a woman drove up and opened her door with (I swear) the power of a hydraulic ram into my mothers door. I got out of the car and was quite pissed. I started saying WTF, and instead of saying, "I'm sorry," or, "I didn't mean to do that," she just acted like I was not there and walked into the store. I was so pissed that I did something I would never do again. I took out my keys, went to her car, leaned into the key, and keyed her entire car from trunk to hood with as much force as I could so that it would have to be repaired with some body work. Needless to say, her car looked like shit, and we left before she came back out. I am not really sorry.

Once I snuck around a private company in the middle of the night with a friend because I thought it would make me cooler. I also cussed with my parents knowing. A lot. I still regret it.
